Intention for the HajjIt has been narrated from Abi ‘Abdillah [Imam Ja’far Ibn Muhammad as-Sadiq] (peace be upon him) that, “Hajj is of two types: Hajj for the sake of Allah and Hajj for the sake of people. The activities of thecentre also extend to one of the major prisons in Johannesburg (Diepkloof).The centre has taken the responsibility of Dawah and education in thisprison and regular performance of Jumuh Salaah at two separate sectionswith a total congregation of approximately 100 Mussallees. The activities ofthe centre include social services such as performing Nikaahs, assisting inmarriages for these new Muslims, offering medical services, visiting the sick,undertaking burial services according to Islamic Rites for those living in theareas serviced by the centre, distributing clothing and blankets wheneverpossible especially during the Winter season. The centre also organisesIftaar and Sehri for the fasting at all centres and Qurbaani during the EidulAdha to teach the new Muslims about Qurbaani in a practical manner. Thecentre has also organised, in conjunction with the Jamiatul Ulama, a coursespecially designed for Muazzins for the service of the Muslim community.The centre also visits different places to conduct programmes and lectures,at times with Jamiatul Ulama or any other organisation and at times on itsown. These programmes have reached places such as Lesotho andBotswana. The centre engages in the expansion of Dawah and education tothe Southern African and other African states.
